Campground Overview
About Fourth of July Campground
Are you seeking a serene escape into nature with vibrant views and hiking opportunities? The Fourth of July Campground in the Cibola National Forest delivers a tranquil, tent- and pop-up camper-only experience at an elevation of 7,500 feet. Its most distinctive feature is the spectacular display of fall colors, as the maple and oak trees burst into shades of red, orange, and yellow, making it especially popular during autumn.
The campground features 24 sites equipped with picnic tables and vault toilets, but no water supply, so visitors must bring their own provisions. Access to several hiking trails from the campground takes you into the breathtaking Manzano Mountains, offering vistas and an immersive connection to the forested terrain. Despite its natural allure, the campground's narrow road and smaller sites make it unsuitable for large RVs, ensuring a quieter and more rustic experience.
Located approximately 30 minutes from Mountainair, New Mexico, the site provides convenient access to nearby attractions like the Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument and the expansive Manzano Mountains. Open from April to November, this is an ideal spot for hikers, nature enthusiasts, and anyone ready to disconnect and immerse in the beauty of the Southwest.
