Campground Overview

About Fr 9350 Campground

Perched at 7,200 feet on the Mogollon Rim, FR 9350 Campground offers an awe-inspiring camping experience defined by its dramatic 200-foot rim-side escarpments, breathtaking forest views, and unmatched access to Arizona's high-country wilderness. This rugged dispersed camping area is ideal for those seeking a raw connection to nature, with numbered campsites spread across a scenic two-mile stretch of Forest Road 9350.

The campground caters to both tent campers and RV travelers (excluding extra-large rigs) with primitive yet spacious sites. While amenities are minimal—limited to a single vault toilet at the Carr Lake trailhead—what it lacks in facilities, it compensates for with stellar stargazing, quiet hiking trails, and panoramic vistas that stretch across the pine-covered landscape. Due to its cliffside location, this area is not recommended for families with young children or those wary of heights. Campers should be prepared to pack in essentials as there is no potable water, electricity, or trash service.

Located around 40 minutes northeast of Payson along Rim Road (FR 300), FR 9350 Campground blends seclusion with accessibility. Within a short drive, visitors can find notable outdoor attractions such as the Mogollon Rim Visitor Center, Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, and several trailheads perfect for hiking, horseback riding, or exploring the forest's diverse flora and fauna.
