About Fremont Lake Campground
How does camping above one of Wyoming’s largest and most scenic alpine lakes sound? Fremont Lake Campground, perched at 7,400 feet on the forested hillside of the Wind River Range, offers a tranquil retreat with breathtaking views, abundant recreational opportunities, and a strong connection to nature. Its striking combination of rugged mountain peaks, sparkling glacial waters, and well-shaded campsites makes it ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and relaxation seekers alike.
Located just 7 miles from Pinedale, Wyoming, the campground boasts 44 single sites, 4 double sites, and 1 group site accommodating up to 50 people. While the facilities are basic, including vault toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, fire rings, and a boat ramp, they provide a comfortable base for exploring the serene Fremont Lake. Visitors can enjoy fishing for trout and kokanee salmon, boating, kayaking, swimming, or simply soaking in the lake’s beauty. The dense canopy of aspen, Douglas fir, and juniper trees ensures campers enjoy both shade and privacy.
Beyond the campground, Pinedale offers supplies, dining, and a glimpse into the region’s history at the Museum of the Mountain Man, featuring artifacts from the Rocky Mountain fur trade era. With its prime location, natural splendor, and ease of access, Fremont Lake Campground is perfectly suited for weekend getaways or extended summer escapes.
