Campground Overview
About Glacier Basin Campground
Have you ever camped with endless panoramic mountain views and direct access to some of the best hiking in the Rockies? Glacier Basin Campground in Rocky Mountain National Park offers this remarkable combination, along with a mix of shaded pine forest sites and open, sunlit meadows at an elevation of 8,500 feet. With clean facilities, proximity to premier trailheads, and the convenience of shuttle service, it surpasses expectations for a national park campground.
This seasonal campground, located just 6 miles from the Beaver Meadows Entrance and a short drive from Estes Park, offers 150 sites accommodating tents and RVs (up to 35 feet in length), as well as group camping options. Amenities include flush toilets, potable water, food storage lockers, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. While loops A and B offer more shade, loops C, D, and the group sites are more exposed, trading shade for uninterrupted mountain vistas and stargazing opportunities. A summer shuttle service connects campers to Bear Lake Road trails, reducing traffic concerns and facilitating exploration.
The surrounding area is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and wildlife lovers. Hiking trails to destinations like Sprague Lake and Bear Lake are easily accessible, while the nearby town of Estes Park offers additional activities, including horseback riding, rafting, and dining. Glacier Basin’s location within Rocky Mountain National Park ensures unforgettable encounters with wildlife such as elk and mule deer and access to over 350 miles of trails, making it ideal for weekend getaways or extended vacations.
