About Guanella Pass Campground

At 10,900 feet, Guanella Pass Campground offers a high-altitude retreat with striking mountain vistas and crisp alpine air, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts seeking hiking, fishing, or stargazing opportunities. Just 7 miles south of Georgetown, Colorado, the campground sits along the scenic Guanella Pass Byway, which connects historic mining towns and provides access to natural wonders like the Mount Bierstadt trailhead and South Fork Clear Creek.

The campground features 18 sites divided into two loops, with 11 accommodating smaller RVs and trailers and 7 designed for tents. Most sites are sunny and open, while a few tent spots are tucked into spruce groves. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, hand-pump water, and trash collection, but there are no electrical or sewer hookups. Campers will appreciate the peaceful sounds of the nearby creek and the spectacular starry skies at night.

Within a 30-minute radius, visitors can explore Georgetown's charm, ride the Georgetown Loop Railroad, or fish and hike at Silver Dollar Lake and Naylor Lake. The area is known for abundant wildlife, so campers can expect encounters with marmots, bighorn sheep, or even the occasional bear. Accessible via Guanella Pass Road, this campground is ideal for weekend escapes or extended vacations in the rugged beauty of the Rockies.
