About Hendy Woods State Park
Hendy Woods State Park Campground offers a tranquil retreat among ancient redwoods, where the combination of towering trees, riverside serenity, and proximity to Anderson Valley wineries creates a unique camping experience. Featuring 92 campsites and 4 rustic cabins, this campground is set between two old-growth groves—Big Hendy and Little Hendy—offering a rare chance to camp amidst trees that can reach 300 feet tall and boast lifespans of up to 1,000 years.
The campground provides well-maintained amenities such as picnic tables, fire rings, food lockers, restrooms with flush toilets, and coin-operated showers. Perfect for families and small groups, the sites are comfortably spaced, ensuring privacy while preserving the cozy forest ambiance. Trails meander from the campsites into the groves and along the Navarro River, with highlights including the wheelchair-accessible Discovery Trail and the Hermit Hut Trail, known for its intriguing historical landmarks.
Located just minutes from the charming town of Philo and less than a 30-minute drive from Boonville, Hendy Woods is ideal for weekend getaways or extended stays. Beyond the campground, visitors can enjoy swimming or kayaking in the Navarro River, wine tasting at nearby vineyards, or simply basking in the warmth of this inland redwood haven, known for its sunnier and less foggy climate compared to coastal parks.
