Horseshoe Point Campground, located on the serene eastern shore of Philpott Lake in Virginia, defies the typical expectations of a crowded lakeside retreat with its tranquil setting and blend of natural allure and recreation-focused amenities. It offers an appealing mix of lake access, shaded campsites, and diverse outdoor activities, making it an ideal destination for relaxation and adventure alike.
This campground offers 15 RV campsites with water and electric hookups and 34 primitive sites, all shaded by a canopy of trees and several providing partial lake views. Amenities include picnic tables, fire rings, hot showers, flush toilets, and a dump station, ensuring a comfortable stay. With a designated swimming beach, a boat ramp and dock, fishing piers, a children’s playground, and access to nearby hiking and biking trails, there are ample opportunities for outdoor recreation. Anglers will appreciate the lake’s variety of fish, including bass, walleye, and catfish, while nature enthusiasts can enjoy the area's woodland wildlife.
Situated in the rural foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains near Henry, the campground is a 30-minute drive from Fairystone State Park and the 5,300-acre Fairystone Farms Wildlife Management Area. These nearby attractions offer additional hiking trails, picnicking areas, and opportunities to explore the natural beauty of the region.
