About Lake Carmi State Park
Boasting Vermont’s largest state park campground, Lake Carmi State Park offers an expansive lakeside retreat with over 130 campsites, 35 lean-tos, and two cozy cabins. Located on the southern and eastern shores of Lake Carmi, this park combines the serenity of a 1,375-acre natural lake with the unique ecological allure of Vermont’s third-largest peat bog. Whether you’re drawn to the plentiful recreational opportunities or the park’s natural beauty, Lake Carmi provides a distinctive camping experience ideal for nature lovers.
The campground is well-equipped with essentials such as restrooms, hot showers, and a sanitation dump station, though it lacks electrical hookups. Set among wooded surroundings, most sites include fire pits and picnic tables, with some offering scenic lake views. Campers can enjoy sandy swimming beaches, kayak and paddleboard rentals, and two boat launches for easy access to the lake's waters, teeming with northern pike and walleye for fishing enthusiasts. Interpretive programs led by park rangers, including guided paddles and night hikes, enrich the visit.
Situated just 6 miles north of Enosburg Falls, the park is also a gateway to the Missisquoi Valley Rail Trail and the Missisquoi National Wildlife Refuge, both less than 30 minutes away. Lake Carmi State Park’s blend of accessible amenities, varied outdoor activities, and proximity to notable natural attractions makes it a superb choice for weekend getaways or extended stays, offering both relaxation and adventure.
