About Lake St. Catherine State Park
What makes Lake St. Catherine State Park stand out is its seamless blend of recreational variety, tranquil surroundings, and family-friendly amenities, all nestled along the sparkling Lake St. Catherine in the picturesque Slate Valley. Ideal for campers seeking lakefront adventures, this 117-acre park boasts direct lake access, wooded and grassy camping areas, and an array of outdoor activities.
The campground features 50 tent/RV sites, 11 lean-to shelters, and one cabin, offering a mix of shaded, open, and scenic locations. While the sites lack utility hookups, they are supported by modern facilities like token-operated hot showers, restrooms, a dump station, and potable water access. Two sandy beaches provide designated swimming areas, complemented by a grassy field perfect for picnics or lounging. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the 18-hole disc golf course, boat rentals (kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, and rowboats), and a short trail with views of Birdseye Mountain. A nature center hosts interpretive programs, appealing to families and wildlife enthusiasts. Fishing in the lake presents opportunities to catch bass, trout, and perch, while birdwatchers may spot blue jays or yellow-rumped warblers.
Located just three miles south of Poultney on Highway 30, the park is easily accessible and serves as a serene base for day trips. Within a 30-minute drive, visitors can explore the Slate Valley Museum or enjoy mountain biking on the Slate Valley Trails. Lake St. Catherine State Park is perfect for weekend escapes or leisurely vacations, offering activities for every age and an authentic connection to Vermont’s natural beauty.
