About Lakeshore East Campground
What if your next camping destination offered direct access to one of California’s largest lakes, cozy weatherproof yurts, and the serenity of forested privacy? Lakeshore East Campground in Lakehead, California, exceeds expectations with its unique combination of lakeside recreation, comfortable accommodation options, and easy accessibility.
Located on the Sacramento Arm of Shasta Lake within the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, this campground features 23 traditional campsites and three yurts, accommodating tents, trailers, and RVs. Highlights include paved parking, picnic tables, raised fire rings, and flush restrooms. The site is partially shaded by oak and pine trees, with natural understory growth providing some privacy between campsites. Yurts add an elevated camping experience, equipped with weatherproof structures, furniture, and outdoor fire rings. However, keep in mind there are no electrical hookups or dump stations.

Visitors can moor boats informally, and public boat ramps like Antlers and Sugarloaf are nearby. Beyond the water, the area is ideal for hiking or mountain biking through forested trails. Notable nearby attractions include Shasta Lake Caverns and scenic views of snow-capped Mount Shasta, both accessible within a short drive.
Perfect for weekend escapes or longer vacations, this destination blends outdoor adventure with a tranquil lakeside atmosphere.
