About Lea Lake Campground

Lea Lake Campground in New Mexico’s Bottomless Lakes State Park defies expectations with its striking blue-green waters framed by dramatic limestone bluffs and a sandy beach perfect for relaxation or recreation. Located just 14 miles southeast of Roswell, this campground offers a rare combination of scenic beauty, water-based activities, and modern conveniences.

The campground features 32 spacious sites with options for full hookups or water and electric connections, accommodating RVs up to 50 feet in length. Each site is equipped with picnic tables, shade structures, and grills, along with access to clean restrooms, hot showers, and a dump station. Campers can enjoy direct proximity to Lea Lake, the only swim-friendly lake in the park, complete with a sandy beach, roped-off swimming area, and seasonal lifeguards. Additionally, paddleboats, kayaks, and paddleboards are available for rent during the summer.

The surrounding area offers over 4.5 miles of hiking and biking trails, fishing opportunities (seasonally stocked with trout), bird-watching from designated blinds, and even scuba diving in Lea Lake, which boasts depths of up to 90 feet and crystal-clear visibility. For day trips, Roswell’s UFO-themed attractions lie within a 30-minute drive, adding a dose of local culture to your outdoor adventure. With its unique blend of natural wonders and recreational amenities, Lea Lake Campground is ideal for weekend getaways, family trips, or extended stays.
