About Longbow Organization Camp
Set against a scenic bend of the South Santiam River, Longbow Organization Camp offers a rare blend of historic charm and natural splendor, perfect for group gatherings seeking a tranquil yet engaging outdoor experience. Constructed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, this 10-acre campground features six rustic alpine shelters with fireplaces, accommodating up to 48 people, and a covered dining area complete with a cooking space and fireplace. A river-facing amphitheater seating up to 75 people adds to its allure for larger events, while the surrounding forest enhances the sense of seclusion and connection to nature.
Located 22 miles east of Sweet Home, Oregon, this group campground is encircled by opportunities for outdoor adventure, including fishing and wading in the clear waters of the South Santiam River. Hiking enthusiasts can explore nearby trails, such as the historic Santiam Wagon Road and pathways within the Menagerie Wilderness. The campground’s well-preserved facilities, convenient water access, and proximity to these attractions make it an excellent setting for weekend getaways, reunions, or educational retreats.
