About Mammoth Cave National Park
Imagine a campground where a five-minute walk connects you to the world’s longest cave system, serene forest trails, and tranquil riverbanks—this is the essence of Mammoth Cave Campground in Kentucky’s Mammoth Cave National Park. Highlighted by its proximity to the park's Visitor Center, this campground provides unmatched access to 400 miles of underground limestone wonders and over 14 miles of scenic above-ground hiking and biking trails. The natural serenity of the area is enhanced by sightings of deer and wild turkeys, often grazing at dawn and dusk.
The campground features 109 primitive campsites, organized across four loops surrounded by fragrant woodlands. Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, with water spigots and restroom facilities conveniently located nearby. While there are no electric or water hookups, coin-operated showers and a camp store, located adjacent to the campground, provide essential amenities. Quiet hours ensure a peaceful environment from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, and generators are permitted only during the day, with noise restrictions in place.
Positioned a short distance from the Green and Nolin Rivers, the campground offers access to canoeing, kayaking, and fishing opportunities. Beyond its natural beauty, Mammoth Cave Campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the park’s underground marvels via daily cave tours, making it a prime destination for nature enthusiasts, adventure seekers, and families alike.
