About Mazama Campground
How does camping at 6,000 feet in an old-growth forest sound to you? Mazama Campground, located just seven miles south of Crater Lake’s Rim Village within Crater Lake National Park, offers a peaceful retreat for nature enthusiasts with remarkable proximity to Oregon’s only national park treasure. Surrounded by towering lodgepole pines, the campground blends natural serenity with convenient amenities for both tent and RV campers.
Mazama Campground features 214 campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and bear-resistant food locker. The campground also offers flush toilets, an RV dump station, and potable water throughout the site. Select sites have electric hookups, and campers can access showers, a laundry facility, and a general store in adjacent Mazama Village. A popular amphitheater hosts ranger-led educational programs, enriching the camping experience with interpretive insights into the park’s geological and ecological wonders. For dining options, the Annie Creek Restaurant offers family-friendly meals just steps from the campground. While the area's beauty invites relaxation, the nearby Rim Drive and hiking trails provide unmatched views of Crater Lake’s caldera and clear blue waters.
Cradled within the park’s southern entrance, Mazama Campground is the prime base for exploring the 33-mile Rim Drive, hiking trails like Garfield Peak and the Cleetwood Cove Trail, and viewing the lake’s volcanic history. With well-maintained facilities and its central location to Crater Lake’s iconic sights, it’s an excellent choice for family getaways, adventurous hikes, or even a weekend of stargazing in Southern Oregon’s quiet beauty.
