Campground Overview
About Moqui Group Campground
With its elevation of nearly 7,000 feet, Moqui Group Campground in Happy Jack, Arizona, delivers a cool, forested retreat that shatters the notion of camping as a solely rustic experience. Surrounded by towering ponderosa pines, oak, and aspen trees, this campground is designed for those seeking a serene group setting combined with modern conveniences in a stunning natural environment.
Moqui Group Campground features three distinct group sites—Simmons, Spooner, and Ernst—each accommodating up to 50 people. These sites are equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, grills, and access to piped drinking water, along with vault toilets and a trash service for added practicality. Simmons and Spooner sites welcome RVs and trailers up to 22 feet (with a maximum of three per site), while Ernst is reserved for tents and smaller camping setups. Campground roads and parking are gravel-surfaced, adding to the rustic charm while remaining accessible. While utility hookups aren’t available, this minimalistic approach enhances the campground’s tranquil atmosphere.
Located just a mile off Arizona Highway 87 and within a 30-minute drive from attractions like C.C. Cragin Reservoir and Knoll Lake, Moqui Group Campground is perfectly positioned for outdoor enthusiasts. The nearby Mogollon Rim offers breathtaking vistas and access to trails like the Arizona National Scenic Trail and Cabin Loop Trail System, ideal for hiking and biking. Happy Jack—a short drive away—provides basic amenities, including a gas station, restaurants, and convenience stores. The combination of forested serenity, group-friendly features, and proximity to striking natural landmarks makes this destination a prime choice for reunions, retreats, or a peaceful escape into Arizona’s high country.
