About Moran State Park
Perched on the idyllic Orcas Island in the San Juan archipelago, Moran State Park Campgrounds offer unparalleled access to serene lakes, lush old-growth forests, and sweeping mountain vistas, setting them apart as a premier camping destination in the Pacific Northwest. With over 5,000 acres of protected wilderness, this campground combines natural beauty, diverse outdoor activities, and practical amenities for campers of all levels.
Moran's campgrounds are thoughtfully distributed around Cascade Lake, Mountain Lake, and other scenic spots, each offering unique experiences. Northend Campground, popular with RV campers, is near the Cascade Lake day-use area and features sites with fire pits, picnic tables, and proximity to restrooms with coin-operated showers. Midway Campground, near the boat launch and trails, is a favorite for families and adventurers, while Southend Campground provides lakeside sites with spectacular views and easy access for swimming and kayaking. For a more rustic experience, Mountain Lake Campground offers primitive sites surrounded by unspoiled woodland, ideal for anglers and solitude seekers.
Located just a short drive from the island hub of Eastsound, the campgrounds provide easy access to the park’s highlights. These include the summit of Mount Constitution, with its historic observation tower and panoramic views of the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, and the tranquil Cascade and Mountain Lakes, perfect for fishing and non-motorized boating. The park’s 38 miles of trails cater to hikers, cyclists, and equestrians alike, making it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts seeking both adventure and relaxation on Orcas Island.
