About Mt. Timpanogos Campground
Isolated within a dense forest of aspen, maple, and fir trees at 7,600 feet elevation, the Mt. Timpanogos Campground offers a serene retreat for campers seeking natural beauty, privacy, and proximity to exceptional outdoor recreation. This peaceful campground features shaded sites with picnic tables, fire pits, and paved roads, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Wasatch Mountains.
The campground provides access to some of Utah's most iconic hiking trails, including the Aspen Grove Trail leading to the summit of Mount Timpanogos, a challenging 14-mile roundtrip journey with breathtaking views. Additionally, the campground is located along the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway, a 20-mile stretch known for its alpine meadows, dramatic mountain peaks, and vibrant scenery. Flush toilets are available on-site, though water and electric hookups are not provided, ensuring a more rustic camping experience. Stargazing opportunities are excellent due to the area's remote location.
Located just 26 minutes from Provo, Mt. Timpanogos Campground is surrounded by nearby attractions, including Cascade Springs and the Timpanogos Cave National Monument, both within a short drive. These natural wonders, coupled with the campground’s tranquil environment, make it an ideal choice for weekend getaways or extended stays for hikers, nature lovers, and families looking to connect with the outdoors.
