North Fork Campground

North Fork Campground in Tahoe National Forest offers a serene and secluded camping experience alongside the North Fork of the North Fork American River. This campground is defined by its remote location, natural beauty, and excellent outdoor recreation opportunities, making it an ideal destination for campers seeking tranquility away from urban life. Towering cedar, pine, and fir trees provide ample shade, and a pristine swimming hole at the edge of the campground adds a distinctive highlight to the experience.

The campground features 17 single-family campsites, each equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, with some sites designated for tent camping only. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water, though RV hookups and dump stations are not available, ensuring a back-to-basics camping environment. Visitors can enjoy fishing for rainbow trout in the creek-sized river, hiking nearby trails, or simply relaxing in the peaceful surroundings. Additionally, the proximity to trails into the North Fork American Wild and Scenic River canyon offers more adventurous pursuits.

Conveniently located six miles from the Emigrant Gap exit off Interstate 80, the campground serves as a perfect base for exploring Tahoe National Forest's dramatic landscapes. Within a 30-minute drive, campers can also access other recreational hotspots, such as the Grouse Ridge Non-Motorized Area and Donner Summit, providing opportunities for hiking and mountain biking. With limited parking and no cell service, the site encourages visitors to disconnect fully and immerse themselves in nature.
