About Ole Bull State Park
Imagine a tranquil retreat where the gentle flow of Kettle Creek provides a soothing backdrop to your outdoor adventures—this is the essence of camping at Ole Bull State Park. This 132-acre park, nestled in Pennsylvania's rugged Black Forest region, offers a harmonious blend of natural beauty, accessible amenities, and diverse recreation opportunities, making it ideal for nature lovers seeking an immersive camping experience.
The park features two separate campgrounds situated along Kettle Creek, offering a total of 77 campsites, 54 of which are equipped with electric hookups. Camping Area 1, located near a sandy swimming beach, caters to families and includes modern restrooms, a playground, and a volleyball court. However, it does not allow pets. Camping Area 2, on the opposite side of the creek, is smaller, pet-friendly, and features ADA-accessible restrooms with hot showers. Both areas include picnic tables, fire rings, and level gravel pads, but larger RVs over 36 feet are not accommodated. Unique to the park, a well-appointed log cabin is available for rent year-round and provides a more luxurious lodging option.
Within the park, visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including fishing for trout in Kettle Creek, hiking along five well-maintained trails, swimming at the sandy beach, or simply relaxing amidst the surrounding forest and wildlife. Stargazers will find exceptional views of the night sky thanks to the park's secluded location, with Cherry Springs State Park, a premier dark sky destination, just a 20-minute drive away.
Ole Bull State Park is located near the quaint Cross Fork community, approximately 18 miles south of Galeton. Its proximity to the expansive Susquehannock State Forest enhances its appeal for outdoor enthusiasts seeking hiking, biking, and winter sports opportunities. Whether you're planning a weekend getaway or a family vacation, Ole Bull State Park offers a welcoming and serene escape into the Pennsylvania Wilds.
