About Pines Campground
Tucked amidst the mixed conifer forests of Stanislaus National Forest, Pines Campground offers an intimate and serene camping experience just 15 miles from Yosemite National Park's western boundary. This peaceful location combines proximity to world-class natural landmarks with a tranquil, uncrowded atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for those seeking rustic charm and quiet retreat.
The campground features well-spaced sites equipped with picnic tables, bear-proof lockers, and fire pits with grills. Vault toilets and seasonal potable water enhance convenience, while the adjacent Little Golden Forest Trail provides easy hiking options, including a half-mile interpretive loop and a more extended two-mile route. With no electric hookups or RV dump stations, the facility caters to tent campers and smaller RVs, ensuring an authentic escape into nature.
Situated just nine miles east of Groveland along Highway 120, the campground is an excellent base for day trips to Yosemite's iconic features, such as waterfalls and scenic vistas, as well as nearby wilderness areas like Emigrant and Carson-Iceberg. Visitors can also enjoy fishing or wading in the Tuolumne River, a short drive away, or explore local winter sports at Dodge Ridge and Bear Valley during colder months. Pines Campground strikes a perfect balance between accessibility and seclusion, offering an unhurried connection to the majestic Sierra Nevada landscape.
