About Pole Flat Campground
Perched above the Salmon River and framed by a scenic mosaic of aspen and pine trees, Pole Flat Campground offers a tranquil retreat for campers seeking a rustic experience with natural beauty and essential comforts. The campground’s elevation of 6,200 feet provides pleasing views over nearby dredge ponds, and its secluded location ensures a peaceful environment, away from highway noise and the rush of urban life.
This small, forested campground features 12 sites equipped with picnic tables, tent pads, and fire rings with cooking grills, accommodating both tent campers and RVs or trailers up to 32 feet in length. Guests enjoy basic amenities, including vault toilets and potable water, but without modern hookups or showers, making it an ideal spot for those who appreciate simplicity. The gravel roads and driveways blend with the natural surroundings, maintaining the campground’s rustic charm.
Located just 14 miles east of Stanley, Idaho, and a short drive from the historic Sunbeam Dam overlook, Pole Flat Campground offers convenient access to the recreational opportunities of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. Within a 30-minute radius, visitors can explore fishing spots on the Salmon River, hike nearby trails, or immerse themselves in the history and natural beauty of the area. This campground is well-suited for weekend escapes, quiet extended stays, or as a picturesque base for outdoor adventurers.
