About Quarry Pond Campground
Is Quarry Pond Campground what you expect from a traditional state park camping experience? Surprisingly, it stands apart with its serene setting centered around a historic one-acre quarry pond, providing a unique blend of tranquility and accessibility to Deception Pass State Park’s renowned beauty.
This campground, the only one open year-round in the park, features 61 sites accommodating both RVs and tents, some equipped with utility hookups. While the layout of sites may limit privacy in certain areas, the campground’s amenities—such as restrooms, showers, a kitchen shelter, and picnic gazebos—ensure a comfortable stay. Tent campers can enjoy select spots offering peaceful views of the quarry pond, a remnant of early 20th-century quarrying operations. Though modest in scale, the pond and its surroundings exude a relaxing charm ideal for unwinding.
Located on the east side of Highway 20, near Oak Harbor, Quarry Pond Campground is just minutes from the iconic Deception Pass Bridge and the park’s breathtaking scenery of rocky shorelines, old-growth forests, and tidepools. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate proximity to Goose Rock’s hiking trails, Cranberry Lake’s recreational waters, and the park’s boating or kayaking options—all within a short drive. This destination is well-suited for weekend getaways, day trips, or extended stays, offering a connection to Whidbey Island’s natural character.
