About Roaring River Campground
Is Roaring River Campground what you picture when you think of immersive forest camping? Situated in the Cascade Range, this small, rustic campground offers a truly authentic nature experience with dense moss-covered woods, the tranquil sound of the nearby Clackamas River, and abundant wildlife including bald eagles and northern spotted owls.
Located just 20 miles east of Estacada, Oregon in the Mt. Hood National Forest, Roaring River Campground serves as an ideal base for those seeking outdoor adventure. The campground features 14 single-family sites primarily designed for tent camping, with basic amenities such as a campfire ring, picnic table, potable water, and accessible vault toilets. RVs are allowed but must be under 16 feet due to limited space and gravel parking areas. Though the river isn't visible from the campground, its proximity offers excellent opportunities for whitewater rafting, fishing for steelhead and salmon, or hiking along nearby trails. Scenic drives, like the West Cascades Scenic Byway, and access to the Roaring River Wilderness, known for its alpine meadows and serene lakes, are also within easy reach.
A stay here connects campers to the natural beauty of northern Oregon while offering close proximity to the charming small-town atmosphere of Estacada—a perfect weekend or short-stay getaway for nature lovers.
