San Augustine Campground

A lakeside haven for outdoor enthusiasts, San Augustine Campground in Texas offers a serene retreat along the Ayish Bayou tributary of the sprawling Sam Rayburn Reservoir. The campground features 100 campsites equipped with water and 30-amp electric hook-ups, alongside five tent-only sites. For those looking to stay active on land, the facility includes an interpretive trail, volleyball and basketball courts, a playground, and picnic shelters. Three restroom and shower buildings ensure comfort for campers. Shaded by the lush piney woods of East Texas, the area is home to diverse flora and fauna, including migratory birds, making it a hotspot for birding, especially in spring.

Located approximately 30 minutes from Jasper, the campground offers easy access to the larger Sam Rayburn Reservoir, renowned for its premier bass fishing scene, with over 500 tournaments annually. The area also serves as a gateway to hiking trails and the nearby Toledo Bend Reservoir, ensuring diverse recreational options for nature lovers and outdoor adventurers alike.
