Campground Overview
About San Gorgonio Campground
Imagine waking up to a crisp mountain breeze at 6,500 feet, surrounded by a tranquil forest of oak and towering pine. San Gorgonio Family Campground, located in the San Bernardino National Forest, defies the stereotype of crowded urban escapes by offering peaceful seclusion amidst natural beauty, coupled with the convenience of modern amenities. Perfect for families, it serves as a gateway to some of Southern California’s most iconic hiking trails and scenic outdoor activities.
This campground boasts 54 reservable sites, including several double sites that accommodate larger groups, with options for both tent and RV camping. Its well-maintained facilities include paved parking spurs, flush toilets, showers, picnic tables, fire rings, and bear-proof storage lockers, ensuring comfort during your stay. Whether you prefer the shaded intimacy of the Shady Oak loop or the more spacious and private Cedar loop, each area provides a unique ambiance. Restrictions on open campfires and charcoal fires may apply, so campers should plan on using gas camp stoves for cooking. The campground is also equipped with drinking water stations and firewood sales, enhancing your camping experience.
San Gorgonio provides direct access to the famed Santa Ana River Trail and the Rio Monte Trail, both offering incredible opportunities for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Nearby Jenks Lake and the Santa Ana River are ideal spots for fishing or simply enjoying the serene mountain waters. For a touch of local culture and recreation, Big Bear Lake and its charming town are just a 30-minute drive away, offering water sports, shopping, dining, and more. Visitors can also engage in stargazing, wildlife viewing, and weekend educational programs at the nearby Greyback Amphitheater during summer months, making this destination a versatile retreat for both adventure and relaxation.
