About Silver Jack Campground - Ouray RD
Silver Jack Campground offers a quintessential Colorado mountain camping experience, combining pristine natural beauty, excellent recreational opportunities, and well-maintained facilities in a remote alpine setting.
Situated at an elevation of 9,100 feet in the Uncompahgre National Forest, this campground provides a serene escape among towering aspens and spruce trees. The 60 spacious sites are thoughtfully arranged in three loops, offering a good balance of privacy and community. Each site features a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets and potable water available throughout the campground.
Located 40 miles southeast of Montrose, Silver Jack Campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the rugged San Juan Mountains. The adjacent Silver Jack Reservoir offers excellent fishing and non-motorized boating, while numerous hiking trails wind through the surrounding wilderness. Nearby Owl Creek Pass provides a scenic drive with breathtaking views of Chimney Rock and Courthouse Mountain.
This campground is particularly well-suited for weekend getaways and extended vacations, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the natural splendor of the area. Its remote location and lack of modern amenities create an authentic outdoor experience, perfect for those seeking to disconnect and embrace the tranquility of the mountains.
