About Silver Queen Campground
Set against the dramatic backdrop of Colorado’s famed Maroon Bells, Silver Queen Campground defies the usual rustic camping experience by offering an exceptional combination of natural beauty, tranquil seclusion, and proximity to renowned outdoor adventures. With only six campsites tucked into aspen groves near the soothing sounds of Maroon Creek, this intimate setting ensures a peaceful retreat amid towering peaks and lush wilderness.
Each campsite features a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food locker, with vault toilets and drinking water available on-site. While RVs and trailers up to 30 feet are permitted, the campground’s charm is best suited for those who value a serene environment. Located only 6.5 miles from Aspen, Silver Queen provides easy access to the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, home to some of Colorado’s most iconic trails, including the Crater Lake and West Maroon Pass trails. Visitors can revel in activities such as hiking, fishing, wildlife viewing, and stargazing, all within a short distance from their campsite.
This campground is ideal for hikers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts seeking a weekend or extended getaway immersed in breathtaking alpine scenery. Its convenient proximity to Aspen also allows campers to balance their wilderness retreat with urban amenities or additional exploration of the Roaring Fork Valley.
