Perched atop the striking white cliffs of South Bass Island, the South Bass Island State Park Campground offers breathtaking views of Lake Erie, blending natural beauty, rich history, and modern amenities. This scenic campground lies a serene two miles from the lively downtown Put-in-Bay, providing an ideal balance of tranquility and proximity to island attractions.
The campground boasts a variety of site options, including 51 electric and 9 non-electric campsites, along with rustic yet well-equipped cabins accommodating up to six guests. Campers will find clean restrooms, showers, a dump station, and a youth group camp available by reservation. Set against the backdrop of Lake Erie, the grounds also feature a small pebble beach for swimming, a playground, picnic areas with grills, and a shelter house for gatherings of up to 50 people. Watercraft rentals, from kayaks to powerboats, are available nearby, offering opportunities for water-based exploration.
Located in the largest park on South Bass Island, the campground provides easy access to unique features such as remnants of the historic Victory Hotel and stunning sunsets over Lake Erie’s cliffs. Beyond the park, South Bass Island offers attractions like Perry's Cave and Heineman's Winery, all within a short drive, making this campground a fantastic base for weekend escapes or extended island adventures.
