The campground's 35 sites are nestled among pinyon pines and junipers, providing a blend of privacy and natural beauty. Campers enjoy direct views of Ruby Lake, a sprawling wetland teeming with over 220 bird species including sandhill cranes and trumpeter swans. The area's unique ecosystem supports diverse wildlife, from waterfowl to pronghorn antelope.

Located in northeastern Nevada, South Ruby Campground sits adjacent to the Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge, about 75 miles southwest of Wells. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the Ruby Mountains, known for their alpine lakes and rugged peaks.
