About Stone Creek Campground
Can a campground redefine expectations for privacy and tranquility? Stone Creek Campground, located within the lush Mt. Hood National Forest on Timothy Lake’s southeastern shore, achieves just that. Designed with meticulous attention to detail, it offers quiet seclusion, stunning forested surroundings, and thoughtful site layouts that cater separately to tent campers and RV enthusiasts. This campground debuted in 2023, immediately distinguishing itself with its peaceful atmosphere and convenient lake access.
With 43 campsites, the campground features a tent-only loop free of generator noise and an RV loop designed for larger setups, ensuring diverse camping experiences. Every site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and grill, with vault toilets and drinking water available. Trails connect directly to the highly scenic Timothy Lake Trail, which loops around the lake and links to the famed Pacific Crest Trail. The nearby lake is a favorite for anglers, with its regularly stocked trout and kokanee, and offers opportunities for paddling, swimming, and non-motorized boating.
Situated about 28 miles from Mt. Hood itself, Stone Creek Campground’s location positions campers close to iconic mountain scenery, the historic Clackamas Lake Ranger Station, and Timothy Lake’s recreational riches. At an elevation of 3,400 feet, this pristine Oregon retreat offers a balanced blend of solitude and adventure for weekend getaways or extended stays.
