About Storrie Lake State Park
Storrie Lake State Park, located just four miles north of the historic town of Las Vegas, New Mexico, offers a diverse camping experience amidst a tranquil lakeside setting, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts who value accessibility, water recreation, and scenic vistas. The park features a range of camping options, from developed sites equipped with utility hookups to primitive camping areas right along the lake's shoreline, catering to both RVs and tents. Its 1,100-acre lake is a key draw, providing opportunities for fishing, motorized boating, kayaking, windsurfing, and swimming, all framed by the stunning Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
The campground includes six distinct areas with 45 developed campsites, including 22 that feature water and 30-amp electric hookups, as well as numerous primitive camping spots for those seeking a more rustic experience. Amenities such as showers, restrooms, a boat ramp, sports facilities, and a playground enhance the comfort and convenience of the stay. Families will appreciate the open recreational spaces, while birdwatchers and nature lovers can enjoy the local wildlife. The park is especially popular with boaters, as it is one of the few regional lakes permitting motorized vessels.
Within a 10-minute drive, visitors can explore the historic charm of Las Vegas, a town rich in Wild West heritage and vibrant local culture. The park’s convenient location and easy access to Interstate 25 make it a practical stopover, a weekend getaway, or the base for longer stays to immerse in New Mexico’s natural beauty and history.
