Campground Overview
About Sunset View Campground
Sunset View Campground offers a rare opportunity to camp for free within sight of ancient Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings. This small, peaceful campground provides basic amenities and intimate access to the rich cultural history and stark desert beauty of Navajo National Monument.
The 31 paved sites accommodate tents and RVs up to 28 feet, nestled among pinyon and juniper trees that provide some privacy and shade. While facilities are minimal, the campground offers flush toilets, potable water, picnic tables, and charcoal grills. The real draw here is the ability to stay steps away from the visitor center and trailheads leading to impressive archaeological sites.
Located in northeastern Arizona, Sunset View Campground sits atop a mesa with sweeping views of the surrounding sandstone canyons and desert landscape. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the monument's preserved cliff dwellings, with ranger-led tours available to Betatakin and self-guided trails to scenic overlooks. For those seeking solitude and a connection to ancient cultures, this campground provides an authentic and immersive Southwestern experience.
