About Talimena State Park
What sets Talimena State Park apart is its dual role as a serene campground and the gateway to thrilling outdoor adventures. Located in eastern Oklahoma near Talihina, it offers direct access to the renowned Talimena National Scenic Drive and serves as the western starting point for the 192-mile Ouachita National Recreation Trail. The park’s compact 20-acre size belies its offerings, with breathtaking views of the Winding Stair Mountains, ample hiking, and ATV opportunities.
The campground features 10 RV sites with 30-amp electric and water hookups, seven tent campsites with pads, and additional primitive tenting areas. Amenities include clean restrooms with hot showers, a pavilion with water and electric for gatherings, picnic tables, grills, fire rings, and a playground, creating a comfortable base for exploration or relaxation. The park also provides a dump station and is RV-friendly, with paved roads and level pads.
Within a short drive, you’ll find the expansive Ouachita National Forest and the Talimena Scenic Drive, renowned for its spectacular spring and fall foliage. Whether for a quick stopover or a weekend getaway, this campground is perfectly positioned for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
