Campground Overview
About Tie City Campground
What awaits campers at Tie City Campground isn't typical—it’s an escape defined by tranquil wooded alcoves, invigorating mountain trails, and close proximity to some of Wyoming’s most distinctive natural and recreational treasures. This intimate campground features 17 campsites arranged in a single tear-drop loop, offering a unique mix of shaded spots under aspen, fir, and spruce trees and open grassy sites.
Facilities are basic but sufficient for a connected outdoor experience, with each campsite featuring picnic tables and fire rings. Vault toilets and a hand pump for potable water are available, though campers should plan for variability in water access due to seasonal availability. This makes it a perfect spot for tent campers or small RVs (up to 32 feet) looking for simplicity and solitude. Adjacent to the campground, the Tie City trail system provides a network of trails geared for mountain biking, hiking, and winter cross-country skiing. Fishing enthusiasts will enjoy brook trout fishing nearby in the South Fork of Lodgepole Creek.
Located just a 15-minute drive east of Laramie, Wyoming, the campground sits within the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forests, surrounded by a diverse landscape teeming with wildlife like elk, deer, and black bear. Within 30 minutes, outdoor adventurers can explore Vedauwoo Recreation Area, a stunning destination for rock climbing and trail exploration amid colossal granite formations. A stay at Tie City Campground invites weekend escapes, day trip explorations, and deeper connections with Wyoming’s rugged natural beauty.
