About Venango Park Campground
Isolated along the eastern shores of Kanopolis Lake, Venango Park Campground defies the typical prairie landscape with its rich mix of sandstone bluffs, rolling hills, and shaded, tree-lined campsites. This campground offers campers both relaxation and adventure, with a serene lakeside setting and an array of outdoor activities.
Venango Park features 126 campsites, ranging from primitive sites to those equipped with water and electricity, as well as a designated group camp area and reservable picnic shelters. Facilities include flush toilets, showers, a dump station, a boat ramp, a playground, and a swimming beach. The campground also boasts a 1.7-mile nature trail that traverses diverse ecosystems, including wetlands and prairies. Wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the abundant fauna, from whitetail deer to bald eagles, alongside vibrant wildflowers such as blue false indigo and prairie wild rose.
Located just 30 miles southwest of Salina, Kansas, Venango Park is a gateway to Kanopolis State Park, offering extended trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Nearby attractions include the historic Fort Harker Museum and Kanopolis Drive-In Theater, as well as fishing and boating opportunities on Kanopolis Lake, which teems with species like largemouth bass and walleye. For those seeking both peaceful retreats and nature-fueled adventures, Venango Park is an exceptional destination.
