About Vista Linda Campground
Can you imagine waking up to the sound of the Jemez River flowing through a vibrant red rock canyon while cottonwood trees sway gently above? Vista Linda Campground, located in the scenic San Diego Canyon just south of Jemez Springs, New Mexico, offers this serene experience to campers seeking tranquility and natural beauty. With stunning views of sandstone mesas, the campground’s setting is both dramatic and peaceful.
This year-round, first-come, first-serve campground provides 13 single-family campsites suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs up to 40 feet. Each site is equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, with some offering shade structures to combat the canyon's sunny conditions. Essential amenities include potable water, vault toilets, and trash collection, though there are no electric hookups or dump stations. The Jemez River, running parallel to the campground, not only enhances the atmosphere but also offers excellent fishing opportunities. Stargazing here is a unique delight, thanks to the canyon’s clear, dark skies.
Situated just 5.6 miles south of Jemez Springs, this campground is ideal for day trips to remarkable nearby attractions. Within a 30-minute drive, campers can explore the Valles Caldera National Preserve, hike scenic trails to hot springs, or visit cultural landmarks like Bandelier National Monument. The charming village of Jemez Springs offers dining options and a dose of local culture, perfectly complementing this campground’s outdoor appeal.
