The dense canopy of spruce, pine, and fir trees provides numerous shaded spots, making it comfortable for stays during the warm season.

Located approximately 21 miles north of Dolores along Highway 145, the campground is accessible yet secluded and sits at a lofty 7,790 feet. Its setting along the West Dolores River makes it a prime spot for day trips or extended stays, with nearby attractions like the picturesque San Juan Skyway and the start of hiking trails into the Lizard Head Wilderness just a short drive away.
