Campground Overview
About Dead Horse Point State Park
Perched atop a dramatic mesa with sweeping views of the Colorado River and Canyonlands National Park, the Dead Horse Point State Park campground offers a serene and striking escape into Utah’s red-rock desert landscape. Known for its unique geology, vibrant sunsets, and its certification as an International Dark Sky Park, this campground combines natural beauty with comfortable amenities for an unforgettable camping experience.
The park features two campgrounds, Kayenta and Wingate, which collectively offer tent, RV, and hike-in sites, as well as yurts for those seeking a glamping option. Each campsite includes shaded picnic tables, fire rings, and access to modern restroom facilities equipped with flush toilets and sinks. While water is available onsite, RV water fill-ups are not supported due to the park’s remote location. The campgrounds are thoughtfully laid out among juniper and piñon trees, providing privacy and a peaceful atmosphere, with several campsites granting awe-inspiring views of the canyons below.
Located just 30 miles from Moab, 27 miles from Arches National Park, and 12 miles from Canyonlands National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park is a fantastic base for exploring the region’s iconic attractions. Within the park itself, visitors can enjoy 17 miles of world-class mountain biking trails, eight miles of hiking trails to stunning overlooks, and a well-appointed visitor center offering information on the area’s history, geology, and ecology. At night, the park’s unpolluted skies reveal breathtaking stargazing opportunities, making it a perfect destination for both adventure and tranquility.
