Campground Overview
About Kayenta Campground
Perched atop a mesa with panoramic views of red rock canyons, Kayenta Campground in Dead Horse Point State Park offers electric hookups, immaculate facilities, and unparalleled access to some of Utah's most spectacular scenery.
The campground features 21 well-maintained sites, each equipped with a covered picnic table, fire ring, and tent pad. Modern restrooms with flush toilets and outdoor sinks for dishwashing enhance the camping experience. While there are no showers on-site, the campground's cleanliness and thoughtful layout more than compensate.
Located just 32 miles from Moab, Kayenta Campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the otherworldly landscapes of Dead Horse Point State Park. The campground's elevation provides a cooler alternative to lower-lying areas, with juniper trees offering welcome shade. Hikers and mountain bikers will appreciate direct access to the park's extensive trail system, including the popular West Rim Trail with its breathtaking overlooks of the Colorado River 2,000 feet below.
The campground caters to a range of trip types, from weekend getaways to longer vacations centered around outdoor adventure. Its proximity to Dead Horse Point's iconic viewpoints allows campers to easily catch both sunrise and sunset over the canyons. The absence of light pollution also makes Kayenta an excellent spot for stargazing, with the Milky Way often visible on clear nights.
