Campground Overview
About The Ledge Camping Area
Rising from the rugged terrain of Kane Creek Road, The Ledge Camping Area stands as a premier destination for adventurers seeking an authentic desert escape. Defined by its striking red rock formations, expansive views, and proximity to world-renowned recreational areas, this campground is a haven for tent campers, RV users (with smaller vehicles), and backcountry explorers alike.
The Ledge offers five distinct camping sections with 105 individual sites and a group site, all managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Basic amenities include vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings, but the absence of drinking water and hook-ups means campers must come prepared. Its remoteness ensures tranquility, while the lack of shade requires mindful planning for the intense desert sun, particularly in summer. Known for its direct access to challenging off-road trails like Hurrah Pass and the nearby Chicken Corners, as well as its proximity to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks (both a short drive away), it’s an ideal base for hiking, biking, four-wheeling, and exploring Moab's geological wonders.
Located roughly 10 miles southwest of Moab along the scenic Kane Creek Road, the campground is accessible via a dirt road manageable for most passenger cars. This journey offers breathtaking views of towering bluffs, tilted rock strata, and the Colorado River, immersing visitors in Moab's dramatic landscapes. Whether for a weekend retreat or an extended expedition, The Ledge delivers a quintessential desert camping experience that captures the rugged beauty and adventure of southeastern Utah.
