Campground Overview
About Elks Group Campground
Rustic group camping meets modern convenience at Elks Picnic Group Campground, where a secluded 6-acre site accommodates large gatherings amidst the transition zone between ponderosa pines and juniper trees. This unique facility, designed by the Winslow Elks Lodge, offers an ideal blend of wilderness immersion and thoughtful amenities for groups of up to 300 people.
The campground's centerpiece is a large, fenced area equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, perfect for communal meals and evening gatherings. Recreational facilities include a horseshoe court, volleyball net poles, and a small playground, catering to diverse group activities. While the site provides vault toilets and a 250-gallon water tank, groups exceeding 50 people must supply additional portable facilities, ensuring comfort for larger parties.
Situated at 6,500 feet elevation in the Coconino National Forest, Elks Picnic Group Campground offers a cool retreat from summer heat. Its location, just off Arizona State Route 87, provides easy access while maintaining a sense of seclusion. The nearby Mogollon Rim, a dramatic geologic feature stretching across Arizona, presents sweeping vistas and opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography. Within a short drive, visitors can explore C.C. Cragin Reservoir and Knoll Lake for water-based activities, or trek sections of the Arizona National Scenic Trail for more adventurous outings.
