Campground Overview

About Robbers Roost Campground

Robbers Roost Campground defies the typical expectations of isolation, blending convenient access with a serene forested atmosphere alongside the Fraser River. Located just five miles south of Winter Park, Colorado, at the base of Berthoud Pass, this small, first-come, first-served campground is an excellent choice for campers seeking both natural beauty and proximity to recreational opportunities.

The campground features 11 non-electric sites, accommodating tents, trailers, and smaller RVs. Each site is equipped with a tent pad, fire grate, and picnic table, and there are vault toilets and trash services available on-site. Water is not provided but can be obtained at Idlewild Campground about 5.5 miles away. Despite its location near Highway 40, the surrounding forest provides ample shade and a tranquil ambiance.

Within a 30-minute radius, visitors can take advantage of hiking trails in the Arapaho National Forest and Vasquez Peak Wilderness, as well as enjoy scenic drives and wildlife viewing. The nearby town of Winter Park adds convenience with dining and other amenities. For campers who value accessibility and a beautiful riverside setting, Robbers Roost Campground offers a compelling base for day trips, weekend getaways, or longer nature escapes.
